Dervish DV-7D – Battletech Miniature
Weight and Size: Medium Mechs typically weigh between 40 and 60 tons. They are larger and more heavily armed than Light Mechs but not as heavily armored or slow as Heavy or Assault Mechs.
Role: Medium Mechs are adaptable and can perform a variety of battlefield roles. They are often employed as frontline combatants, capable of engaging both Light and Heavy Mechs effectively. Medium Mechs can also serve in fire support roles, long-range firefights, and tactical operations.
Armament: Medium Mechs have a broader range of weapon options compared to Light Mechs. They can mount a combination of energy weapons (lasers), projectile weapons (autocannons, gauss rifles), missile launchers, and even some advanced technology like PPCs (Particle Projection Cannons) or LRM (Long-Range Missiles).
Mobility: While not as fast as Light Mechs, Medium Mechs still possess respectable speed and maneuverability. They can traverse various terrains and engage in flanking maneuvers or tactical repositioning. Some Medium Mechs may also have jump jets to provide limited jump capabilities.
Armor and Protection: Medium Mechs have a better balance of armor and protection compared to lighter units. They can withstand more punishment than Light Mechs but are still more vulnerable than the heavily armored Assault Mechs. Their moderate armor allows them to survive prolonged engagements and withstand medium firepower.
Variants: There is a wide variety of Medium Mech designs within the BattleTech universe, each with its own specific attributes, loadouts, and roles. Some well-known Inner Sphere Medium Mechs include the Hunchback, Centurion, Enforcer, and Griffin.
Inner Sphere BattleMechs are a class of giant, humanoid, bipedal war machines used in the BattleTech universe. They are primarily operated by the Inner Sphere factions, which include the major powers of the BattleTech universe such as the Federated Suns, Lyran Commonwealth, Draconis Combine, and more.
Technology: Inner Sphere BattleMechs are built using Inner Sphere technology, which is generally considered less advanced than Clan technology. They tend to rely more on projectile weapons, traditional energy weapons, and ballistic weapons compared to the advanced energy weapons and Clan technology used by the Clans.
Customization: While Inner Sphere BattleMechs do not have the modular OmniMech system of the Clans, they can still be customized to some extent. Inner Sphere Mechs often have fixed weapon hardpoints and equipment, but can have certain components upgraded or replaced to improve performance or adapt to specific missions.
Armament: Inner Sphere BattleMechs are armed with a combination of energy weapons (lasers), projectile weapons (autocannons, machine guns), and missile launchers. Their loadouts can vary depending on the Mech's role and tonnage. Inner Sphere Mechs often rely on mixed loadouts that balance different weapon types for versatility.
Role and Tactics: Inner Sphere BattleMechs are employed in a variety of roles on the battlefield. They can serve as frontline combatants, scouts, fire support, or specialized roles like electronic warfare or command units. Inner Sphere tactics often focus on combined arms warfare, coordinating with other units such as vehicles and infantry.
Faction-Specific Designs: Each Inner Sphere faction has its own BattleMech designs, reflecting their unique technological and cultural characteristics. For example, the Draconis Combine favors designs with a samurai aesthetic, while the Lyran Commonwealth focuses on heavily armored and well-armed designs.
